Ayurveda’s Philosophy Ancient Origins
As previously mentioned, Ayurveda is a profound and centuries-old practice that has its roots in beautiful India. I learnt about this incredible method of healing and preventing pain back in 2015, as part of my personal healing journey. But my in-depth introduction with this science was in 2017, when I visited India for the first time.
The Ayurveda information has been developed and passed on over centuries. This wisdom is a comprehensive system of medicine and well-being to harmonise body, mind and soul. The philosophy of Ayurveda is based on a deep understanding of the rhythms of nature, and the belief that optimal health can only be achieved in harmony with them. If you have ever met me in person or participated in my courses, you already know that Ayurveda is a way of life for me.
Ayurveda Basics – In Short
According to Ayurvedic principles, the body is a microcosm of the universe and its fundamentals are closely linked to the elements of nature. Ayurveda recognises and celebrates the immeasurable power of nature. It works to harness this power to promote holistic health and well-being. Its profound insights and timeless wisdom make it a valuable aspect of India’s rich cultural heritage, but not only. It valued by people around the world who seek a deeper connection with themselves and the universe.

The Five Elements & The Three Doshas
What does it mean that the body is a microcosm of the universe? Or that its basic elements are tightly linked to the elements of nature? How can we use this in our daily lives?
In short, Ayurveda is based on the fundamental belief that each individual is unique. Each of us inside, has a specific combination of the five elements – ether, air, fire, water, and earth – and three Doshas – Vata, Pitta, and Kapha – that make up our constitution, also known as Prakriti.
Vata comprises the elements of air and ether. Pitta embodies fire and water, and Kapha represents water and earth. Once one has understood their Prakriti, it is possible to personalize diet, lifestyle, and herbal remedies to maintain balance, reduce stress, and enhance overall health and wellbeing. If you belief in taking a holistic approach to healing and wellness, Ayurveda might be the best base for it all.
The Three Pillars: Discover Ayurvedic Diet, Lifestyle & Herbs
So let’s dive a bit deeper, so you’ll also understand more and fall in love with this powerful holistic method. The Three Pillars of Ayurveda encompass the fundamental principles of this ancient holistic healing system.
- The first pillar emphasizes the importance of discovering one’s constitution or “Prakriti”. By understanding our unique makeup, we can align our choices with our inherent nature.
- The second pillar revolves around the vital role of diet, lifestyle, and herbs in maintaining balance and harmony. Ayurveda teaches us to nourish ourselves with wholesome foods, engage in mindful and physical activities that benefits the body, and incorporate herbal remedies to promote wellness.
- Lastly, the third pillar highlights the personalized approach of Ayurveda, ensuring that recommendations are tailored to suit each individual’s specific needs. Through these pillars, Ayurveda guides us towards optimal well-being and vitality.

Nourish Body & Soul Ahara Vidhi: Mindful Eating Art
According to Ayurveda, how can food alone promote balance, clarity and vitality? Here we take a closer look at sattvic foods – a form of Ayurvedic nutrition based on plant-based and fresh foods.
Sattvic foods are fresh, pure and naturally rich in prana, the energy of life. They include fresh fruit, vegetables, whole grains, lentils, nuts and seeds. Incorporating these foods into your diet not only nourishes your body, but also promotes mental clarity and spiritual growth. In Ayurveda, how we eat is equally important as what we eat. Ahara Vidhi, the art of mindful eating, teaches us to eat more slowly, enjoy each bite, and be fully present during meals. By eating mindfully, we improve our digestion, promote the absorption of nutrients, and cultivate a deeper connection to the food we consume.
Nurturing Your Inner Nature’s Healing Powers
Ayurveda, the ancient traditional system for healthcare and wellness, is all about self-care. It’s one of the most important things you can do to be happy and healthy. So, why not incorporate some Ayurvedic self-care rituals or yoga and self-care practices into your daily routine? This is a really great way to support and promote your overall well-being!
What’s more, Ayurvedic practitioners really believe in the healing power of nature and all the wonderful medicinal herbs and plants that the earth has to offer. It’s so lovely to know that these herbs have been used for centuries for their effective properties and their ability to promote physical and mental well-being.

Home Remedies for Common Ailments
Embrace the wisdom of Ayurveda and harness the healing potential of your kitchen to promote your well-being naturally! I gather here for you some great examples:
- Ginger is highly regarded in Ayurveda for its ability to improve digestion. To ease indigestion or nausea, make a soothing ginger tea by steeping grated ginger in hot water. Adding a pinch of rock salt or a few drops of lemon makes it more effective.
- Turmeric, a beautiful golden spice, is amazing at fighting inflammation and germs. And if you’ve got a minor cut or burn, just apply a bit of turmeric and honey, it’ll help it heal and stop it from getting infected.
- Triphala, a lovely blend of three fruits, is a renowned Ayurvedic remedy for digestive health. So, here’s a little trick I’ve found: a teaspoon of Triphala powder with warm water before bedtime can really help with digestion. It’s like a little detox boost for your digestive system, making it work even better.
- Tulsi, also known as holy basil, is good for boosting the immune system and fighting infection. Boil a few leaves of Tulsi in water and breathe in the steam to relieve congestion and soothe a sore throat.
- A mix of honey and cinnamon is a great way to boost your immune system too. Mix a teaspoon of honey with a pinch of cinnamon and take it every day to help your body fight off illnesses.
